Trip to Headingly

It was a long drive but we managed to reach there after 4 hrs at 8:30pm on sat night, we did get lost a bit in Leeds city centre but my friend guided me all the way to his home. We got up early next day morning and decided to park a mile away from the Headingly Stadium on a less busy road so that we don't get stuck in the traffic on our way back.

When we got into the ground, the players of both teams were warming up for the match. We took some close up snaps of our cricket players. It was a bright Sunday morning and it was a good feeling to be inside the stadium. We were really hoping that India wins the match and make the day memorable and "paisa wasooli" for us.

My friend was trying to get autograph of some of the Indian cricket players but none of the famous players bothered to sign and they all went straight inside the pavilion to get ready for the game. Only Dinesh Karthik from Indian team stopped by to sign some autographs. From England team, Paul Collingwood and Mascarenhas were happy to sign the autographs.

Fame is such a interesting thing, many people in the crowd want to get autographs from only the famous players but not other new players in the team. I am sure the new players would have that kind of demand some day in the future, at least some of them.

It was India batting first and after the first 2 maiden overs we thought it was going to be a dull day. But it turned out to be a very entertaining day with India coming on the top. It was very eventful day including the rain breaks.

Monty Panesar was clearly a popular man with the Indian crowd. It was good to see the crowd cheering for him. Also when Sachin is fielding near to the boundary, people would normally shout his name and Sachin happily waved to the crowd. That was enough for the crowd to go happy. You also see so many cameras clicking when he is near to the boundary.

At the end of day, we had really enjoyed the match and the environment in the ground. It was definitely more than "paisa wasooli".

It was another pulsating match today and India have squared the series with a fashionable win which many people had not expected. So that puts up for a interesting series decider this weekend at Lords. It should be a great game and I hope it will be.
